48 Hours to Create Art on Stage!

What It Is

  Looking for a theatre project for the summer that won’t eat up too much of the precious sunny days? We’ve got you covered! Presenting Red Curtain’s 1st Annual 48-Hour PlayFest!


This event runs Friday, July 11-Sunday, July 13, and is sure to be a chaotically good time! Participants will gather at the Red Curtain Arts Center (9315 State Ave #J, Marysville) on Friday at 7pm for the kickoff celebration where teams will be formed and guidelines for the event will be distributed.


Teams will work overnight Friday and all day Saturday (sleeping Friday night at RCF) to write, rehearse and polish their original short play, to be performed Saturday and Sunday, with a wrap party Sunday evening. 

How It Works

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Friday July 11 

  • 7:00pm Kickoff meeting
  • 8:00pm Break into teams

Saturday July 12 

  • 9:00am  Breakfast served
  • 11:00am Costume/Props (each group gets 25 minutes in storage)
  • 2:30pm Tech Rehearsals (each group gets 25 minutes on stage)
  • 4:00pm Dinner served
  • 7:00pm First performance
  • 9:30pm Second performance

Sunday July 13 

  • 3:00pm Final performance
  • 4:30pm  Wrap party/awards


RULES FOR PARTICIPATING

1. Must be 18 years of age or older to participate on a team;

2. Must be available to be physically present for all festival events/performances July 11-13, 2025;

3. Participant understands that they will be expected to stay at the arts center from 7pm on July 11 through the performances on July 12 (Meals/snacks will be provided);

4. Each participant will be chosen for only one team, and will only fill one role on that team;

5. Teams cannot be formed in advance and will be selected randomly.

While you can register for multiple categories, each participant will have only one role in the festival (ie, you can sign up as a writer, director and musician, but you will only be selected for one of those jobs).
