After a 2-year COVID hiatus, Red Curtain's Springboard is back! The popular program challenges young actors to blossom as they learn the critical skills of teamwork, mutual respect, and self-discipline using the tools of musical theatre storytelling.
The program is designed for students ages 9 to 14, with rehearsals four days a week followed by a weekend of public performances of a fully-staged musical.
The tentative schedule: classes will begin May 10, 2022, with rehearsals Monday thru Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Performances are set for June 24-25. Auditions will be held the first day of rehearsals. All registered students will be cast in the show.
For this year's show, the instructors have chosen "A Connecticut Yankee: The Musical," a modern adaptation of Mark Twain's classic story, "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court." Hank, a clever student who is working on his school play, is knocked unconscious and "wakes up" in Camelot! Through encounters with King Arthur, Guinevere, Sir Lancelot, Merlin, and even Morgan LeFey, Hank brings modern technology to the medieval kingdom and learns a bit about himself along the way.
Tuition is $295 for the full program. A $100 deposit holds your student's place, with the balance due the first day of class. Register online (select the Spring 2022 term) or call (360) 322-7402.
PLEASE NOTE: Proof of vaccination and masking at rehearsals are still required at Red Curtain.
