Students enrolled in the Springboard program will participate in auditions (all students are guaranteed to be cast), attend classes/rehearsals 4 days a week for 6 weeks, then present a fully-staged musical for three performances! Led by Red Curtain's Artistic Director, Scott Randall, with professional assistance from co-director Kelly McClain, musical director Christopher Puckett, choreographer Lexi Jones, and accompanist Stacey Eliason, our young actors will learn by doing... and in the process, develop self-confidence, a strong sense of teamwork, and critical self-discipline.
Auditions are set for May 15-16, with classes/rehearsals beginning May 21. Rehearsals will be held Monday thru Thursday from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. Performances are scheduled for June 29 and 30. All rehearsals and performances take place at the Red Curtain Arts Center. Tuition is $290 per student, and payment plans are available.
The show tentatively planned for production is "A Kidsummer Night's Dream," a musical based on Shakespeare's comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Students will be introduced to Shakespeare's beloved characters -- the Royal Court, the young lovers, Titania and Oberon (king and queen of the fairies), the Stooge-like Workers, and the impish Puck. The language has been modernized and simplified for young actors, and the music helps tell an engaging story of romance, intrigue, mischief, and joy.
